Approximately 1.5 by .5 miles, Cottonwood is one of the warmer lakes in the Valley. It offers swimming, boating, water skiing, fishing (summer and winter), float and ski plane operations, and skating.

Cottonwood Lake is part of a 7-mile canoe trail, connected to Finger Lake and Wasilla Lake by short portages. Motorized uses of the lake are permitted only between 8:00am and 10:00pm, insuring restful nights.
